Broke Bob's Simple, Straightforward Farm Wealth Discussions

Experience and Expertise

Yes, Bob has been broke. It's taught him invaluable lessons, like the importance of creating and preserving wealth...financial, mental and spiritual. This website will share ideas for building a lasting farm legacy for future generations while having some fun.

Fourth Quarter

Bob's simple, straightforward discussion about agriculture

is written as discipline: a means to test ideas and plans for the great farm handoff. There's no motive here other than ensuring things go right

for the old and new generations before the whistle blows.

No Investment Advice

That said, nothing contained in this website should be considered investment advice. These discussions are only food for thought. Every investment is different. Each decision requires careful due diligence.

With each new crop protection chemical, weeds evolve. Amaranth (pigweed) and perennial rye grass have replaced cocklebur and Johnson grass. How will new seed genetic/crop protection technologies change the equation and who will win?

Crop Protection

H2A workers have become vital to American agriculture. Visas grew 10% in the first half of 2023 to fill 212,000 agricultural jobs, up from 193,000 jobs in the first half of 2022. Who is winning, where are the investments being made and how will automation, AI and politics affect this trend?

Agtech

Environmental markets

Environmental markets

Outside of seed genetics and crop protection, few technologies have yet to live up to the promise to transform agriculture. This however may change as satellites couple with robotics, CRISPR-Cas9 and AI technology. Who will win? Where are the investment opportunities?

Environmental markets

The above LCFS chart shows how quickly environmental markets can change. Ethanol was the first major market opened to agriculture by environmental regulations. Will others, such as biodiesel, bio aviation fuel or carbon sequestration, have impact? Who will win? Where are the investment opportunities?

Land/REITs

Retirement/Legacy

Finance/Trusts

$500m Farmland Partners (FPL) among other real estate investment trusts (REITs) offers opportunities for hedging farmland prices. Are there opportunities to correlate interest rates to predict cropland prices?

Estate taxes may rise substantially in 2025. Where are the opportunities for dynasty trusts and how are they best organized to ensure future generational success?

Retirement/Legacy

Bob Nimocks started as a farmer in the Arkansas Delta, moved to the energy industry where he helped companies build their portfolios. In 2014 he sold that company to purchase the old family farm and expand its operations. Some things have worked, some have even worked well, but others have failed. His story ain't over.
